There is no surcharge to purchase the card & the Customer can choose a FREE carrier & envelope or chose to purchase the premium gift pack offering.
Do I need to activate or register my card before I use it?
No. The card is activated at the time of purchase. The card purchase does not require any customer registration.
How much can I purchase the card for?
The card can be loaded with a minimum value of €10 to a maximum value of €150 in €5 increments. The card can be used instantly after purchase.
No, the giftcards may not be topped up. New giftcards can however be purchased from your local vendor.
How long is the card valid for?
The card is valid for 12 months from the original purchase date.
The card can be used anywhere MasterCard is currently accepted & works in the same principle as a normal DEBIT card.
A restaurant can't deduct the full value of my giftcard, why?
Your giftcard is powered by MasterCard and so acts in the same way as a standard credit card. All major credit card companies have a policy of provisionally authorising an additional 15% on restaurant transactions. This is to pre-approve any gratuity you may wish to add to the bill. This 15% is not actually deducted unless the customer authorises it. However at the time of payment the total bill is provisionally calculated as the total bill including any service charge plus an additional 15%. In such circumstances it is possible that whilst the bill is within the limit of your card balance the additional 15% means the Restaurant requests authorization in excess of your balance causing the card to be declined.
I used my giftcard in a restaurant and more than the value of the bill has been deducted, why?
Credit card transactions in a restaurant automatically add 15% to allow you to leave a gratuity or tip. The amount is not actually deducted from your account unless you authorise the gratuity. However the additional 15% will come off your balance until the restaurant settles their credit card transactions with their bank at which point the 15% will be re-credited to your Giftcard. This is a standard practice with most major credit card companies.
My card has been lost/stolen, what should I do?
The card should be treated the same as CASH. If it has been lost or stolen please report this to ZAPA using the link below.
How can I check my giftcard balance?
The card balance can be checked online, at designated balance check terminals located in the city, and by mobile text message.
You can check your gift card balance by SMS in Ireland by texting ‘GIFT’ followed by the card account number to 53341. Texts cost €0.60 plus operator’s standard message rate.
